Great post! I like when games blend theme and mechanics and the designer knows what the game is about

I have a clarification and a concern about your post.

Clarification: how these mechanics are related to cosmogony? If I understood correctly these are working for superior entities but they are not tied to the myth of creation...

Concern: I fear that the way you suggest to apply these mechanics (in part when these are concealed to players) might be targeted by the fans of players' agency... don't get me wrong, I am with you and I like your idea, I am pretty sure that an OSR fan could dislike them for the negation of agency... thanks and ciaoo

You can always tie these to creation, but cosmology doesn’t have to mean creation! Anything of a cosmic scale!

Concealing these from players is always a choice, and a simulationist choice for sure. But that doesn’t make it a negative choice simply a way that a GM can choose to run their game. In particular, the concealment of information leads to player action to uncover said information. Personally I think secrets in a game can be very fun, and actually enhance NSR playstyles for some of us.

D'oh... my apologies! I read cosmogony instead of cosmology! 😅
