Certainly check out Exclusion Zone Botanist! It's more roll & draw style journaling but it's also something I really enjoyed playing, from the same creator.

I’ve tried this one as well! Keep an eye out for a review in the future….

Thanks for the EZB shout out! I'm glad you noticed the similarities, even though they are different genres and mechanically different. They both rely on push-your-luck as a core mechanism: Do you keep going for better [weapons or specimens], or do you cut your losses and end the game?

This looks intriguing… I’ll definitely check it out, especially with it being a quick session to run! The setting looks really cool.

It’s very quick… but quite replay-able. I was tempted to do another run 5 minutes after I finished my first!

Thank you so much for this review and your very kind words! There is no better feeling than hearing that someone enjoyed one of my games. I truly appreciate it!

Not at all. It was a blast to play and great to write about. Rooting for Skeleton Code Machine at the Ennies!

I’ve been inspired/encouraged by you solo-play Substackers to give games like this a try.

I haven’t figured out what to play first!

I’ll be checking this one out.

This one really converted me to solo RPGs. I can't say it's a big part of my ttrpg hobby, but more procedural stuff like 11th Beast I find really fun!

In the past year I’ve moved away from games with a heavy GM prep commitment. I keep finding smaller, lighter games that are quick to set up and just as good to play. A GM less game… then a solo game seems like the logical progression.

Sounds really neat! I agree that solo games that have a strong procedural generation and challenge to beat are more engaging

If you like the procedural play you might also like RUNE by GilaRPG’s. I preferred Eleventh Beast because it leaned more into the journaling, and was much simpler to play, but it might be your cup of strong tea.
