Hey, I really like the bones of this system. I’ve played with very freeform magic before in Lost Eons, but would it be ok to adapt your system for our setting?

For Eco Mofos? Or are you working on something new? Either way, sure! Just give us a credit, a newsletter link is also fantastic if possible ;)

Did you build in specific ways to replenish STR and WIL? It’s one of the (many) beautiful innovations in Mythic Bastionland?

I did not in this case, but I think it's another good avenue to explore. Especially if you have them linked to different magical traditions. Like having to get cold after using fire magic, that sort of thing.

Hey congrats! This system is very close to the one I defined for my game!!!

I'd curious to read the detailed list of constraints, as this seems to be my weakness in the system I hsve drawn!

Thanks and may the fun be always at your table!

Intriguing. I’ll have to give this some thoughts.

I played in a Dark Sun game with rules somewhat similar to this. If you passed the test, the spell went off. If you failed, someone nearby lost Water. Sometimes you'd get lucky and it was your enemy that was drained. Sometimes it was another party member, who inevitably started to wonder why they had decided to travel with a Defiler...

This is really cool! Reminds me of Symbaroum a bit hehe.

I had been playing with a similar way of doing it but yours is far more streamlined. I had strange half costs and other stuff.

I also never even considered “subtlety” as something for spells- very clever.

Subtlety is a really fun one!

This is incredible. I have always liked freeform magic systems but, similar to you. It sounds like, have found them tediously complex.

This is a wonderful middleground, and this blog is definitely going into my blog posts to save file

This is great stuff as always. Did you find the negotiation aspect of using magic this way tedious during play? I have a player that I know would be consistently hung up on the "Power" aspect (y'know, the part the GM gets to sort of decide).

I'm lucky, and my players are happy taking my immediate judgement 99% of the time. But yeah, for players who are going to wrestle with your judgements I think freeform in general can be tougher. Answer: rule with an iron fist haha.
