At least for me, these mini settings are the best. Similar to the old school modules, i can admire the creativity and plot hooks with minimal time investment, and then i can proceed to guide through the adventure with modifications and adaptations.
YES! This has just given me a massive realignment push to wrap up the next tranche of campaign play for my players. They’ve done -some- hex crawling to get back from a dungeon-crawl underground. It was ok enough but I fear that things will slow to a halt if we don’t drive forward the story -around- the world we are building.
Love love love mini settings! My favorite kind of module/adventure type content
I get why they are so popular!
I’ve made a few myself, like Valley of the Shimmering God. It’s extra mini

Exactly, they´re easier to get into, less of a commitment and often enough to carve out your own adventure path
Seems like I should check out mothership. I love contained adventures.
I feel like Mythic Bastionland realms are in this vein too. Some people have shared pre-made realms and they’re often < 10 pages.
Mythic Bastionland is great! It’s a bit more sprawling, but keeps things light!

Gonna order up a couple of the zine books!
