The chain casting is very cool. The principle could be adapted to martial combat too, representing martial art techniques or schools of fencing, or even tied to weapon types.

Off the top of my head I can’t remember, but it seems very easy to port these aspects over to magic not focused on combat!
I think I might have to pick up SoaDS just to mine it for ideas if nothing else.

Yeah absolutely. You could take this and apply it to a combat structure like Mythic Bastionland.
