Using real world maps
I’m sure I’ve mentioned how much I love maps, all kinds, since I was a little kid. 😊 fantastic article and def worth a restack!
Maps are the best!
As someone running more modern and sci-fi games, I do greatly appreciate the ease of using real life locations without much issue.
That said, I have at times simply borrowed chunks of siberia to represent the geography of alien worlds, so there's that.
That’s the great thing about real world maps, unless players are already familiar with them, they can be used for fantastical locations!
Works for fiction too. Apparently EK Johnston used the Toronto Subway map for the design of her space station in 'Aetherbound'.
I was just looking at city maps the other day and now this? A sign that I must do some mapping! Keep up the good work.
