We’ve developed a line of hexmap notebooks (Hexbooks) for running a hexmap centric campaign! They are also great as player campaign notebooks, since you can fill hexes and map dungeons with them!
As you can see, we’ve got three versions. They are printed through Lulu, with 90gsm uncoated white paper. We’ll go through each in detail but here’s the short of it.
Hexbook (right): A5 coilbound notebook, with a 100-hex hexmap.
Mega Hexbook (middle): A4 landscape coilbound notebook, with a 200-hex hexmap.
Hexflower Zine (left): A5 saddle-stitched, with a 19-hex hexflower. ~A limited edition grey zine is available ✨~
Let’s take a look at each!
Hexbook
The ‘classic’ option. It’s got a 100-hex hex map with space for a map key:
A table of contents (102 entries) that you can add your own entries to (plus page numbers):
100 spreads with a lined page for notes and a gridded page for drawing dungeon/urban maps (or making more notes). The lined section has a mini 7-hex hexflower for you to note surrounding hexes or to use for subhexes:
And 2 pages of lined paper with headers at the back for general use:
The coilbinding means the book lies flat, is durable, and you can tear out pages.
Mega Hexbook
This A4 landscape monster is for big campaigns, and has all those benefits of being coilbound. It’s got a 200-hex hex map with space for a key:
A table of contents that you can add your own entries to (plus page numbers), with 206 entries:
200 'hex pages', one for each hex, with a lined section for notes and a gridded page for dungeon/urban maps or making more notes. The lined section has a mini 7-hex hexflower for you to note surrounding hexes or to use for subhexes:
6 pages of lined paper with headers at the back for general use:
Hexflower Zine
✨ Limited edition ✨ A Hexflower Zine in grey is available as-well-as the original black Hexflower Zine. ~We’ll keep this available for a limited time before choosing another limited colour… any requests?~
The Hexflower Zine is ideal for compact hexflower sandboxes and that feeling of making your own RPG zine as part of your campaign prep.
It’s got a blank 19 hex 'hexflower' and space for a key beneath it, with a numbered table of contents that you can add your own entries to (plus page numbers):
19 spreads, one for each hex, with a lined page for notes and a gridded page for dungeon/urban maps or making more notes. The lined section has a hex space for you to copy the terrain type/illustration within the hex:
And 6 pages of lined paper with headers at the back for general use:
The saddle-stitch means it lies flat too!
Why design these?
I’ve been hunting for a good notebook to run hexcrawls from for some time and what I wanted just didn’t exist... until now. I know there are some ways of coping with hexcrawl notes - like folders - but I enjoy a good notebook.
The problems I encountered with other options were:
Loads of pages of hex paper which I didn’t need. I want one hexmap!
No table of contents for referencing or page numbering.
I wanted to have both lined and gridded paper available to me on a spread, so I can do mapping and notes side by side.
I also wanted a mini-hex in the lined section, so I could know the terrain.
I needed something that could facilitate big campaigns and dealt with the annoyance of having to flick to the map to see the surrounding terrain. I solved this with the mini 7-hex hexflower.
That’s it
If you pick one up, please send us field documentation of them in use! If you have friends who want for RPG notebooks, be sure to send them here! Let us know what colour you want to see as the next ✨limited edition✨ Hexflower Zine.
Dear Murkdice,
My, what a delightful offering indeed! I shall be placing an order on behalf of the owner in all haste.
Kind regards,
The Butler.
Absolutely wonderful looking notebooks! This is basically my dream notebook, it’s just a shame the shipping to my country would be half the cost of the notebooks! Any chance there will be digital versions available in the future?
