What about an "exquisite corpse" then?

Myths are often somewhat incoherent or contradictory, as are exquisite corpses.

And interpretation or, say, how a myth interact and is realized through actual players acts, could become part of the fun.

One of my bucket list of games for 2025 is Black Sword Hack which is very much constructed around a worldbuilding exercise in session zero. It's table based which is less collaborative and more prescriptive, but in the example in the book, the GM has players roll twice on each table and pick which result they like best.

Might be interesting to roll up some results and have them as 'jigsaw pieces' used in each initial prompt during this myth building exercise so that the myths tie into the places, peoples and factions of the world.

i really like players getting involved in world building - and this seems like a great tool to get more shy players feel like they can get involved in it, as a more guided exercise - i’ll try it with my next game!

This was a great exercise! Writing the myth without speaking/chatting really added to the sense of it being a myth. Highly recommend trying this out!
